This Datsun 240Z was first registered in November 1971 and kept by the original owner for another 48 years until 2019 when our Director bought it for his personal collection becoming just the second owner. It is unquestionably the finest example of the RHD HS30/240Z model on sale today and of true collector quality.
As a UK supplied car, it is probably the lowest mileage original HS30 example left today with just 24,700 documented miles from new. It was only used it regularly for the first few years and then garaged for use as a second car for leisure and car shows only. Importantly, it was always kept it on the road, taxed and MOT'd each year not stuck in a barn unused for years as most cars with this mileage would have been.
Aside from a re-paint a couple of years ago in the original colour of Datsun 905 Monte Carlo Red, the car is completely original and is not a restored car. All body panels comprise of original factory steel, pretty much unheard of for any UK supplied 240Z.
The L24 2.4-litre six-cylinder engine runs on twin Hitachi/SU carburettors producing 150bhp and capable of going from 0–60mph in around 8 seconds – very quick for any car in 1971.
The Wolf Race slot alloys were dealer supplied when new and are fitted with new tyres all round. A stainless steel exhaust system was fitted in 2019 by marque specialists Fourways Engineering who looked after the car and MOT'd it over recent years.
The interior is in excellent condition no splits or cracks in the dashboard and all the instruments are in good working order. There are two keys present, the original handbook, a stack of old tax discs matched with a collection of previous MOT certificates and service receipts which confirm the mileage.
This is a one off opportunity to buy a UK market 240Z with the most complete history and provenance available.
