1974 Toyota Celica 1600GT Twin Cam

Superbly restored JDM Toyota Celica 1600GT Twin Cam (TA27)

Imported earlier this year on offer is a rare and desirable Celica TA27 model with a very interesting history. It is a JDM spec. car which was a special export order from the factory in Japan when new in 1974 as a personal import for the Finance Director of Toyota South Africa. 

It has never seen a UK Winter or rust, never been welded and hence retains the structural integrity and originality of the factory car. 

It was lightly restored last year by a specialist restoration company in Johannesburg on behalf of the retired South African Airlines pilot who had owned the car for the last 30 years or so. Work carried out included a bare-metal repaint in the original colour of Toyota 684 dark green metallic and a re-trim with seats finished in high quality tan leather with new carpets sourced to match.

The dashboard is in good condition and all gauges and switchgear work well.

Mechanically the original Toyota 2-TG 1600cc twin-cam engine runs on twin Mikuni-Solex carbs which have just been tuned and balanced by the foremost race engineer led tuning company in the South West. It has performed really well over recent road tests to shows and drive outs in the Summer.
