We have just imported this superb cool classic Mini Pick-Up from South Africa, now UK registered and ready to go. It was registered in SA as a 1983 car due to a long period off the road but it is actually based on a 1965 model. We purchased it direct from one of the leading Mini specialists in South Africa who restored and built it as his own workshop runaround some five or six years years ago. The idea was to build a car with upgrades/improvements to ensure it was perfect for regular use in modern traffic and fun to drive. It has done around 15,000km since being built.
It is mechanically excellent and spec. includes:
Full house 1275 GTS engine (essentially a Cooper 1275S engine built at the Leyland factory in SA)
Bored to 1293cc
12G1505 crankshaft
21253 Mahle high compression pistons
Twin SU carbs
Close ratio GTS gearbox
MiniSport quick shift linkage
The interior was re-worked with new bucket seats.
Original GTS steering wheel
The bodywork remains in very straight condition. Whilst the paintwork is very good overall there a couple of very minor areas where paint has flaked a little giving a bit of patina. There is a tiny bubble/imperfection as can be seen on the lower driver door but nothing of real concern at all.Work completed under restoration included new/replacement;
Front and rear sub frames

Braided hoses
